Portable boring machines are primarily used for on-site machining (in-situ machining) to renovate and repair bores (holes) that can be found across a wide range of industries such as mining, energy, marine, offshore, defense, naval, pulp and paper, and oil and gas, to name a few. Typical applications include bearing positions in, for example, turbines, diesel engines, generators, gearboxes, paper machines, horn tubes, and compressors.
Portable boring machines can also be used for excavator buckets. They are then commonly employed with an automatic bore welding kit to repair damaged positions by adding new material through a layer of welding (overlay).
Historically, many portable boring machines have used hydraulic or pneumatic (air) motors for rotation and a mechanical solution for feeding. Metalock machines use only powerful electric servo motors, resulting in precise remote control and faster machining. They are also easy to connect with a single-phase electrical connection and operate quietly. What's the end result? Improved and safer portable machining.

1. Machines for Trepanning (Hot Tapping)
Metalock has been focused on solving problems caused by high-pressure drilling. The CHT model machines have the motor closer to the cutting tool, feature high-pressure seals, and the gearbox is helical and pressurized.
The machines have their own LCD screen suitable for underwater use.

The machines are being developed globally in many applications and across various industries, especially in stud extraction and refurbishment. The machines feature linear rails and perform highly in situations that demand great precision under the most adverse conditions.

We have machines that can coat large-diameter brake rollers and cylinders and can be used in the removal of internal and external welds in pipes and can be operated by remote control.
6. Journal Turning
Over the last 10 years, we have developed this machine which is very easy to use but delivers high-precision service. The machine features dual bearing systems with interconnected adjustable shafts between the two systems allowing for great flexibility in applications.
